"My first Tilly and the Buttons sewing pattern that I've bought and I'm blown away by it. The level of detail and the quality of it is possibly the best I've ever seen in a pattern! Service from their website was top rate too. Can't wait to get the fabric to make this beautiful dress!" - Hannah
"Tilly has taken me from a complete novice to an addicted sewist in six short months, with a combination of clear well structured teaching (first from Love at First Stitch, now with the Learn to Sew Jersey Tops online workshop) and gorgeous patterns I actually want to wear. I feel full of confidence to tackle new projects now, and have a hobby for life!" - a happy maker

“I had tried following other patterns in the past and found them hard to understand. The Tilly and the Buttons patterns are fun and so easy to follow. I was so happy when I made my first Bettine dress, I couldn’t believe I had sewn it all by myself!” - Kymberly
After friends and random strangers kept telling her the same story - that they'd love to make their own clothes if only sewing patterns weren't so confusing and intimidating - Tilly set out to rethink sewing resources for modern home dressmakers. Combining her expertise in designing learning programmes with her passion for DIY dressmaking, she translated the jargon into plain English, replaced head-scratching diagrams with gorgeous colour photos, and added helpful sewing tips - all stirred up with a hearty dose of encouragement.
Tilly began sewing seven years ago after feeling an urge to do something creative with her hands. She instantly fell head over heels in love with being able to take a flat piece of fabric and turn it into a dress that she'd dreamed up in her head. Over the next few years, she dived deep into the world of sewing, starting a blog, studying pattern making and professional sewing at the London College of Fashion, and dreaming about stitching seams day and night.
After launching the patterns and signing her first book deal, Tilly quit her day job in 2014 to focus on the company full time. As a participant on the School for Creative Startups, she received the HRH British Made award from the Duke of York. The growing Tilly and the Buttons team now work from a lovely studio in South London.
