Ooh noo, it's sold out! Drop us a line if you'd like to be on the waiting list for future dates.

DATE: Saturday 18 March 2016

TIME: 10.30am – 5.00pm

TEACHER: Hannah Silvani of The New Craft House

PRICE: £120 (includes the Coco sewing pattern, goodie bag and celebratory drink)

This workshop is for you if you know how to use a sewing machine, if you’ve sewn a few projects and want a bit of help to start sewing knit fabric. While it may have a reputation for being scary, sewing with knits really isn’t difficult once you’ve learnt a few tips and tricks. And it’s soooo comfy to wear! We'll start you off using low-stretch knit fabric to make the popular Coco top or dress pattern.

  • How to cut out knit fabric without stretching it out of shape
  • Tips and tricks for stitching knit fabric on a regular sewing machine
  • Make your choice of Breton top, dress or sixties funnel neck using the Coco pattern
  • How to stabilise and finish seams on knit garments

"Hannah the tutor was fantastic, really helpful and friendly. Having attended three courses at other venues this has been my favourite one. Not afraid of knits anymore." - Helena

  • 2m (x 150cm wide) or 2.7m (x 115cm wide) medium-weight knit fabric with very little stretch – eg. ponte di roma, double knit, interlock knit (suggestions here)

We’ll provide the extra bits and bobs you need to make Coco, as well as tools and sewing machines for you to use on the day. You’ll also get a goodie bag to take away with you, including a printed copy of the Coco sewing pattern (if you've already got it, bring it along with you and we'll give you another pattern of your choice instead). At the end of the class we’ll toast your new skills with a celebratory drink.

Please note: It’s a good idea to wash, dry and iron the fabric before the workshop in case it shrinks. The pattern goes up to 112cm (44in) bust, 97cm (38in) waist and 120cm (47in) hips – if you need a larger size please let us know before booking.
