Sewing Pattern Testers + Models

There are lots of ways to be part of the Tilly and the Buttons community. We’re always on the lookout for sewists and models to help bring our sewing patterns to life.

Pattern Testers

We’re always looking for sewists to pattern test new designs and help us refine fit, instructions, and usability across a wide range of body shapes and sizes.

You don’t need a big social media following, or any at all, and sewists of all experience levels are welcome. What matters most is a love of sewing, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work to a deadline.

What’s involved:

  • Sewing one or more patterns to a set deadline (usually around 2 weeks)
  • Checking pattern pieces, instructions, and formatting
  • Providing clear, constructive feedback
  • Sending photos of your finished garment(s) (for internal use only)

The body measurements for the top and bottom sizes in the range are:

  • UK 6: Bust 76 cm (30 in), Waist 61 cm (24 in), Hips 84 cm (33 in)
  • UK 34: Bust 152.5 cm (60 in), Waist 134.5 cm (53 in), Hips 155 cm (61 in)

In return, you’ll receive:

  • A stipend towards fabric and supplies
  • A copy of the finished pattern
  • An additional Tilly and the Buttons pattern of your choice

Places are limited for each test, so if you’re not selected this time, please don’t be discouraged — there will be future opportunities.

Models

We’re looking for models in UK sizes 18–34 for future Tilly and the Buttons sewing pattern photoshoots at our South London studio.

You don’t need professional modelling experience - just be comfortable in front of the camera, happy to pose, and able to attend fittings and shoots in person.

Women (including trans women) aged 18+, of all ethnicities and abilities, are warmly encouraged to apply.

You’ll need to:

  • Be within commutable distance of West Dulwich / West Norwood
  • Attend in-person fittings and photoshoots at our studio

Details:

  • Models are paid a day rate
  • Shoots only run occasionally, so you may not hear from us straight away

Current measurements we’re looking for:

  • Bust: 112–152.5 cm (44–60 in)
  • Waist: 94–134.5 cm (37–53 in)
  • Hips: 114–155 cm (45–61 in)
