I decided to make this for my daughter in size 0/4. Fun to make and not too hard as I’m a beginner however once completed I realised that I should have shortened it when cutting the pattern as my daughter is only 5ft tall. Easy corrected. Made in black needle cord.
Really hope your daughter loves making her Cleo. Thank you for sharing. Team Buttons x
This pattern fits well but it is close fitting. Be prepared to size up if you like a looser fit. I goes together well and the instructions are crystal clear. I made it in a pale blue stretch denim for summer but I'd like to make it in a heavier fabric like needlecord for winter. I think a bit of stretch in the fabric makes it more comfortable. Overall it's an excellent pattern and I highly recommend it.
Thank you Sarah, stretch denim is perfect for this pattern and that shade of blue looks amazing. Thank you for sharing. Team Buttons x
Purchased as a gift for my 13yr old granddaughter who is just starting to make her own clothes - from Tilly and the Buttons book for beginners making clothes. The Cleo pattern from a size 4 is ideal as it will fit her without having to be adjusted!! She's looking forward to being able to make it.
Thank you Karen for your message, it's so great to read you encouraging your granddaughter to sew. We added the size 4 to Cleo for this very reason. the Jaimie PJs are also available in a size 4 if she wants to ad that to her project this. Team Buttons x
This was a good pattern to start my dressmaking with. Comprehensive instructions with useful illustrations. I did struggle a bit with attaching the straps at the back but the no-sew buckles at the front were super easy. A little bit short maybe for me; next time will add a few inches.
Yay Caroline, so pleased you've started your dressmaking journey with Cleo. Here's to many more garments for your me-made wardrobe. Team Buttons x
Cleo was an easy sew, wish it had a little more shape within the pattern but overall enjoyed making it!
Thank you x
