I made this first out of a light summery fabric and loved it so much I made the long-sleeved version with a stiffer-stretchy plaid 2 days later! I’m 5’5” with 36” bust, 30” waist. I made size 4, and it’s the perfect oversized flowy dress, with still enough shape from the darts to make it not feel like a pillow case haha. I made side-seam pockets instead of patch pockets, and my skirt is a little fuller than what is called for because I like a twirl, so I used the full width of my fabric to keep it simple and have less leftover. Everything printed well and came together easily. Definitely recommend.
Two similar patterns were released around the same time but this was an easy choice for me. I love TATB patterns. The sizing is almost perfect for me every time (I have have several) and the instructions are always clear, easy to understand and thorough with the addition of photographs, it really is hard to go wrong even at my basic skill levels.
Ive only made the top so far and love it. I think it has had the most compliments so far of all my 'me made' items. The dress is on my list for next summer, maybe two, and has only been delayed due to the sporadic weather we have had this year. (Although I have just read the other comments and a babycord version would be lovely for winter!) Next under my machine is the Ramona skirt! Thank you Tilly!
I love the Nell, it's so breezy and cool in the summer. I want to make a babycord one for winter now. The instructions are very clear, none of the steps are complex. The only change I've made is adding in seam pockets as they are my preference.
Straight forward pattern. Clearly explained instructions. Ist I made a toile. Then used Mind the Maker gingham check fabric. I done size 2 bodice, and graded the waist to a size 1 skirt. Excellent pattern
