GET INSPIRED #SewingSamara
After posting the other day about my Jaimie PJ bottoms, I've now made the Samara top in the same brushed cotton as used for the Jaimie's. Really pleased with this as a set (and I've made the top as a 'stand alone' top 3 times now) and it's ideal for lounging on these dark and chilly evenings. I need to read and reread the instructions on altering the neckline as I feel the neck is a bit low and wide for me.
Hi Helen, thanks so much for another lovely review! Your Jaimie and Samara combo looks absolutely fabulous - and so snuggly too! Hope you enjoy wearing them. :)
We’ve got an in-depth blog post on adjusting the neckline on the Samara - hope you find it helpful!

I loved this make. A simple pattern with easy to follow instructions. Also, my top fits great and will get lots of wear paired with my jeans. A great alternative to a tshirt.
Hi Karen, thanks so much for your lovely review! I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed making it and that the fit is just right for you. Hope you enjoy wearing it! Happy sewing! Virginija x
I made a hip-length, long sleeved top with elasticated cuffs using a drapy viscose challis. I love the drape, but I think that the neckline is too low for a top which is this loose fitting. I find that it either gapes at the front or slips back so that the shoulder seams sit further back. I would like to give it another try. I don't fancy trying to change the neckline, so I'm going to try sizing down a couple of sizes. I think this will still result in a relaxed fit, but with a neckline which fits better.
Hi Helen
I'm sorry to hear you're finding the neckline too low. I've shared an Instagram video on how to raise or lower a V neckline (ft. the Samara pattern!) so you can tweak it to your preference: https://www.instagram.com/p/DKBrMYXsoZk/
I hope this helps :)

The instructions are very clear and the pattern is well designed. For instance how the neckline seam meets the facing. Very beginner friendly and easy to sew. The V-neck line came together beautifully.
I made this one out of double gauze and it was a fussy fabric to work with. It still looks good.
But my next Samara will be in viscose. Love this pattern!
Hi Linda, your Samara sounds beautiful! Double gauze can be tricky, so hats off to you! We bet your viscose version will be dreamy too. We've also got double gauze AND viscose sewing tips over on our blog (just use the search bar to fnd them easily) if you'd like some extra support. Happy sewing! Abi x
Made this Samara top/dress (with pockets) - absolutely love it and can’t stop wearing it!!
Hi Allison, thank you so much for your lovely review! I’m so happy to hear you love it and can’t stop wearing it. Pockets always make everything better, right? Enjoy wearing your new favourite! Happy sewing! Virginija x
