GET INSPIRED #SewingIris
I am new to making underwear and tried four patterns to see what I liked the best. Of the four, I am very happy with two, the Iris being one of them. I will definitely be making more, although I have already made twelve pairs. I find them supremely comfortable, they are relatively quick and easy to make, attractive when finished, and hardly show under clothing. I chose my size according to the instructions and they fitted me fine, although I did trim the leg opening and the waist height a little to perfect the fit to my preference. In addition, I have used up quite a lot of jersey scraps, so they are very economical to make, as well as providing colour blocking opportunites, should you wish.
Had a bit of a mare on my first pair because I had to unpick the elastic. After I figured out how to make a zigzag stitch narrower on my machine I was finally on my way and have now made three pairs!
I made the Frankie. T from the stretch book and had some scraps left. I now have matching undies and T shirt. (I can feel this will be a new trend) I will refer to all new t shirt and undies sets as Tundies
You've started a trend! We love that scraps from other projects are perfect for Iris. Thank you for sharing x
Really enjoyed making these. It's quick gratification at its best. I had to make two small modifications to the pattern, but what the heck. Still worth it. Thank you Tilly.
Thank you Paula, so pleased you've enjoyed making our Iris knickers pattern. Team Buttons and Evie la Luve x
The best thing about the Iris pattern is the fit and choices. I made my very first pair of traditional knickers and they fit PERFECTLY according to the size chart. From there, I went wild with bikinis, boy shorts and briefs! I went color/lace wild, too! I had no idea making underwear was so much fun!
Yaaaas JoEllen we love reading reviews like this. There are endless possibilities with the Iris Knickers sewing pattern. It's great to read you're having lots of fun going wild with it. Team Buttons x
