I loved making this jacket, well 2 actually. One unlined for myself and one lined for a surprise birthday present for my niece. The instructions were so easy to follow with pictures as well at each stage. I found this really helpful. I have bought another pattern, it's in my to do pile.
First time making a lined jacket and the instructions were very clear and easy to follow. I placed my pockets lower down than the pattern. I’m really pleased with the finished result and it fits perfectly.
Great boxy jacket. I made this for my mom and we used the finished measurements to determine size and she did not want it oversized. I measured her to be between a 7 & 8, but sewed up the size 5 for her. There is a mistake in the instructions on part 21 - for imperial seam allowances. It says to sew up one front by 5/8, than around the collar at 3/8 and then down the other front by 3/8 (this last 3/8 is the error, it should be 5/8). I sewed buttons (but not buttonholes) to the pockets too, if I were to make this again I would sew the buttonholes on before attaching the pockets to the jacket front. I used a 7oz denim that is almost a chambray from a US store called JoAnn's.
Great pattern, went together very smoothly, instructions very clear and easy to read. Am going to make another to add to my wardrobe
I was looking for a jacket pattern to use with a pink chunky cord fabric I had in my stash, and the Sonny pattern caught my eye. It sewed up actually really quickly, the instructions were good and the construction method easy to follow. I skipped the faux flat felled seams and pockets as I wasn't sure they'd work on chunky cord, but it gives the jacket a minimalist look I really like. Overall, a nice pattern to sew and a great finished garment!
