Thank you for sharing your Indigo makes Tracy x
You just know a pattern is well drafted when every single piece you sew comes together perfectly. INDIGO is one such pattern. I realise this is a 'smock' type fitting and baggy clothes just don't suit my diminutive figure so I went by the finished garment measurements and allowed the ease I thought would be good. Wonderful result. Looks great! Only had to lengthen the sleeves a bit and it was job done. I see more INDIGO makes in my future. Thanks to the Tilly and the Buttons team for doing such a great job again!
Thank you Margaret for taking the time to leave you kind comments x
Hi- I just wanted to say how disappointed I am in your indigo pattern. I started making clothes because it’s hard to find clothes to fit my mid sized body. It’s hard to measure myself and read a pattern to find out I’m a size 16 or 18 but I’m 44 in the bust, 37 waist and 44 in the hips. Which according to your pattern was a size 8- or size 16- which is mentally hard for me to grapple with. Then to make the whole dress, only to discover it is MASSIVE on me. I thought you were an inclusive pattern comapny and I’m just so disappointed
I'm so sorry to read you're disappointed with your Indigo make. I do understand as I know how disheartening it can be to buy something off the rack and it not fit, BUT that is the beauty of making your own wardrobe because once you learn how to fit the pattern to your unique shape you’ll end up with the comfiest of makes.
We always recommend using your own body measurements to select the right size for you and we also offer lots and lots of free sewing tutorials on our website. We have a fitting post for Indigo which will help tweak your pattern to fit you (https://www.tillyandthebuttons.com/2019/09/fitting-indigo.html) and we also recommend making a toile first to iron out your fitting issues before cutting into your bestest fabric.
We are also on hand by email if you need extra support just drop Abi and Nikki a message to email@example.com
I'm still in the middle of making this pattern (the first I have ever done) but I have to say, as a complete beginner who has never sewed anything in her life, this is so so easy to follow! I usually need a YouTube video to watch alongside making things but all I have to do with this pattern is read it and do it. It's very very easy to understand. Even though it's meant for confident beginners (which I am not at all!) I find this very easy. I can't praise this company enough. Thank you Tilly and the buttons for making these patterns so easy to understand, even for a complete sewing noob like me!
Thank you Jay, this is the best message because this is exactly what we want all our newbie sewists to feel. Sewing doesn't have to be difficult or scary. Team Buttons x
By far the best pattern I have purchased in terms of paper quality and instructions. Very easy to cut out and follow the detailed booklet with pictures enclosed. This was my first pattern purchased from Tilly and the Buttons but it won't be the last, loved everything about it
Hi Sue, thank you so much for your lovely words and for sharing your make. Lovely to hear we've got a new Button fan x
