A useful addition to my TATB patterns

I have made 3, hacked Lyra dress pattern as shirt/blouses. The first was made in linen, and I found the elasticated wrist didn't drape due to the nature of the fabric. I used a wider elastic, and found this gave a better finish, but am not a fan of the elastic cuff. I had a look at alternatives and came across the free Rosa cuff pattern. I printed it off and created a new sleeve for the Lyra by drawing the head of the Lyra sleeve onto the Rosa paper pattern and drew a straight line from the underarm to the cuff. This gave me enough ease for the tops of my arms. I much prefer the cuff finish to the elastic version. The pink shirt was my second attempt, with the overlapped cuff. I had some fabric left over from a Lyra dress experiment (inexpensive fabric as I never wear dresses, but wanted to see what it would look like on me and I quite like it) and used the extra for another Lyra shirt/blouse, with a Rosa sleeve, but without the overlap on the cuff. I much prefer this version. I love it when I can expand the scope of patterns to create new stuff. Think I am all 'Lyra'd out' for now, but have carefully labelled and stored my extra pattern pieces away.

Hi Sheila, thanks so much for the 5 stars! I love hearing how you’ve hacked the Lyra dress pattern into shirts and blouses. Your tweaks with the Rosa cuff sound like they worked out perfectly. It’s great when you can take a pattern and make it your own. Sounds like you’ve really made the most of Lyra - I bet your custom pieces look amazing! Thanks for sharing your process and tips. Happy sewing! Virginija x
