Fabric Suggestions

Light-to medium-weight woven fabrics such as cotton lawn, poplin, chambray, flannel, linen blends, Tencel (lyocell), viscose (rayon). For the puffball sleeve, choose a fabric with body that will hold its shape. The straight sleeve dress could also be made in needlecord or lighter-weight denim.

Can’t believe I did it!

I have had the Nell pattern for a while but have been hesitant about starting it as I’m very new to sewing still (this is my 6th or 7th make, I think) and was worried about being able to do the gathers properly. I’m so glad I tried it! As always the instructions were easy to follow and the additional tips online super helpful for some extra hints over the harder bits. I have some beautiful gingham that I bought especially for the dress version and I’m sure I’ll be starting that soon ready for the warmer weather. Thanks so much to the TATB team - this time last year I hadn’t made a single me made garment, and now I’m well and truly smitten with this hobby and so proud of myself!

Run don’t walk and get yourself the Nell Dress and Blouse pattern. You won’t regret it! I just finished the midi dress version of the Nell and it’s uh-mazing ❤️ It’s my first make for my 2025 summer capsule and it’s exactly what I hoped for. The instructions are wonderful.
